This morning, MAEC organised an outing to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve so I had to be up and out earlier than usual.
I was the GL for the Blue group, together with Izzati and Haziq. It's amazing how I managed to bond with the kids and attend to their needs, and still entertained the parents while walking through out the Sungei Buloh trail and sweating my calories off.
🙉🙈🙊
My biggest mistake today was to wear my new shoes. I couldn't find my Skechers shoes this morning, the one that I wore to Japan and Korea last year. So I had to give in to those striking purple and pink shoes. Fatty chose it for me when we were in Bandung, he has pretty unique taste. I mean seriously, who would buy and wear those shoes? They're too striking. Oh well, I did. My shoes got a lil dirty after the trail. Pretty lucky for me because that pair of shoes didn't cost me a bomb, so the pain is still bearable.
The kids kept asking me questions. One after another throughout the whole trail. Some of them even held on to my hands, bag straps and my top. They were basically all over me. And since I had to ensure they're always practising safety, I had to make sure they're not running around and boy it was pretty tiring! I really salute all the pre-school and primary school teachers. You guys have my respect!
I didn't join them for the second part of the day. They continued their activities at West Coast but I had to go off because I had to send Nenek and Halijah off to Melbourne.
I'm so glad that Nenek is travelling around more often than before. Almost 2 years have passed since Atuk left us and I know how much they loved travelling especially Atuk. It's their favourite past time. Even though Atuk is no longer with us, I want her to keep on travelling. Keep on discovering the world while she can!
She's not educated, she can't speak English well, barely even understands that language. I hate how sometimes the younger ones look down at the older ones for being less educated than them and the younger ones always act like they know it all when honestly they don't. I want her to go all "Oh yeah I've been to those countries!" and surprise them with stories about the countries she has gone to if anyone will ever go "Oh you don't know how beautiful *insert country name* looks like! 🙄" to her. Just imagine the shock faces of those arrogant people 😈
Nenek invited me to join for this trip but I had to say no because of finals 😢 But it's ok, I'll get there one day. Actually I have plans for a trip that's coming soon, but first I need to save up enough then I'll spill some beans along the way.
Right after checking in, we went to have supper at Kopitiam and I had a great talk with Halijah and her boyfriend. So far, this guy she's with has been earning good points from the Zakaria's family. We had talks over so many topics. I mean come on, when you talk to me, we can talk just about anything and there's no end to it.
Recently, I took a cab home after hanging out with Daya at night. We talked non-stop throughout the whole ride from MBS till her place. The taxi auntie actually asked if we had not been meeting each other for quite some time. I actually laughed a little and then answered her. It's amazing how I text her everyday, meet her almost every single day too and still, we can talk so much. Maybe I'm a little too talkative.
Anyway, back to today. There were people in grey uniforms sitting behind us. I was actually curious about their job but I kept quiet until I saw my cousin Haikal talking to the dude behind us. Lucky for him, my uncle took this photo and he kinda photobombed us. I asked him a few questions and both he and his colleagues answered. It was all good... until my dear little cousin Izat had to go, "Who is this, Kakak? Your boyfriend?" right in front of him. That just got both of us pretty awkward, I must say. I tried to recover from the situation by laughing it off and replying that little minion with "No lah, we don't even know each other. How can that be my boyfriend?" I was slowly walking away from my position right after saying that. Nope, not the best way to recover from such awkward situations.
Nenek and Halijah will be away for a month. A month in the land of kangaroos and koala. Nenek has gone to Japan, Korea, Bandung and now, Australia all in the span of less than a year. She's travelling more than those people you see who wanna act like they're touring the world, those travel blogger wannabes. But whatever, because all I hope for now is that they'll have fun and come back safely after a month!
