Ain's off the market!

We're all growing older, but today... TODAY. I felt like adulthood finally really kicked in.

So many things happened during secondary school, and one of it is the fact that I'm in this clique called idiriqinifil. We're just a bunch of girls who think we're so cool, but we're actually not. Though we're not as close as before, I'm still glad that God let us share good memories in secondary school together.

Few weeks ago, the prettiest one among the clique. No kidding, every Malay guy in school wanted to try to win her heart. Even those not from our school... you can say she's the prettiest Malay girl in Dunearn. And she's my friend, Ain. Yes, part of the idiriqinifil clique.

So anyway, Ain and I text once in a while. We rarely meet, like REALLY REALLY rare. Once a year kinda thing, or even more. Few weeks ago, Ain and I finally set a date to meet. Me being me, I was soooooo excited. We had dinner together, and then... she surprised me with her wedding card!

As usual, I started getting protective. I asked her so many questions about that guy and so far, I approve him. Their love story is definitely like in a drama, that's all I can say.

Last night I came to help her out, honestly I just wanna see her while she's still single... but hey I did help out!

People have been asking me why did I wear the hijab, and well... she hopes that the guests at her wedding really jaga their aurat so that her marriage will be more blessed. Of course, as a friend, I really just wanted to make her day. So I put it on. Honestly, I love it even though I struggled so much with it.

No, I'm not wearing the hijab full-time.
Soon, in sha Allah.

I helped to draw these boards last night to help her out. Tell me it didn't turn out that bad, right? The males and females seating area were separated during her wedding, just like how weddings should be like.

The wedding boards did not look like how I wanted them to be. Still, I had a great time bonding with her other friends and learnt a lot about my religion. I have definitely learnt a lot from interacting with people who are more knowledgeable about my religion. I don't know how to explain this feeling, but it's such an amazing feeling.

I came home at 1 in the morning, and had to be at Ain's place by 10 for her nikah.

The nikah was so simple. So simple, that I love every single thing about it. No lavish hantaran. Just the wajib, which is mas kahwin. May my future marriage be as simple and beautiful like this one!

Her berkat is simple but so practical.

Yes, a book about the most basic thing.

I'm still trying to sink it all in. Like guys... my best friend is married! She's not always there, but she always remember to pray for me. And the best of friends are those who pray well for you.

She's now someone's wife. This feeling... this incredible feeling. A marriage till Jannah, that's what I want for her because she really deserves it. In fact, for everything she has done for me, I hope we will be reunited in Jannah again. We both are not perfect and we know it. But I still want nothing but Jannah for us.

All the photos I have of Ain. As much as I want to post them, Ain does not like the idea of having her photos up on social media and I respect her decision so there are no photos of her even though this whole post is about her wedding, and for her.

So... that's her super cute nephew Lutfi!

Congratulations Ain and Safian! 🎉

my kampung is cooler than yours

I've been spending a lot of time with my family for the past few weeks. Time is flying by way faster than I thought, we're all growing older and we will only get busier from here.

As usual, every Chinese New Year, my dad will try to get away from Singapore... I swear he's just waiting for me to earn enough before the whole family can fly out every long weekend. My "cannot duduk diam kat rumah, must merayap" behaviour definitely comes from him.

I haven't gone back to my kampung for a really long time. Honestly, I have been trying to recall when was the last time I stayed at the kampung but I just couldn't. This time round, I went back to kampung and man, the place is getting cooler than ever.

After attending a wedding there, my whole family straight away went to the mall nearby to catch a movie. I was contemplating between XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and Kungfu Yoga. Because my brothers got annoyed and then rushed me to make my decision, we ended up watching XXX.

The movie is actually not that bad. Nonsensical, with action. I like it, even though people are going mehhhh about it. Seriously, why don't you guys like it? I mean, other than the fact that Vin Diesel tried too hard with his "not so nice body, but still no bulging tummy, but no abs too" body, everything else was not too bad. Donnie Yen actually did the Ip Man trademark move. Deepika tried hard with her English, I mean come on, it's just her accent give her some chances. Kris... no comments, I couldn't really figure out what he's saying. Is it Korean? Is it Chinese? Oh wait, he's speaking English.

Too many stars acted in the movie, but all's good. I like it, overall.

Right after the movie, we walked around a little bit before heading to this "hipster" place nearby.

I wanted some CBTL while the brothers wanted subway. CBTL was full with Chinese families gathering there. Seriously guys, do your gatherings at home. It's really annoying because I couldn't get a place to sit in CBTL because they were all gathering there with their families. In Singapore, I get annoyed when this happens because students are studying there. Sheesh, I just need to sit and consume my food peacefully. GIVE ME A CHANCE PEOPLE.

My kampung used to be sooooooo uncool and boring guys. But now, this place has themed cafes, online shops setting up a REAL shop... it's like wow, I feel like investing some money and actually open my own shop to make this place even cooler. Let's hope it will happen soon. Time to start saving my money HAHA #mykampungiscoolerthanyours

And finally after sooooooo long, I had some time with Sofia Hana. My other niece. She's not that close with my paternal side, but it's okay. I still love her just the same, she's soooooo cute and really easy to take care. She's slowly getting on the Aunty Syafiqah's Favourite Niece Award.

She's now four months old. Time really flies. No joke man. I remembered being all tired, just from your parents' wedding day. And now, you're 4 months?!?! You better be helping out a lot when I get married HEHE 😈

I hope it's still not too late to wish my Chinese friends.... Happy Chinese New Year!
I'm still single, so yeah I'm just waiting for some ang baos. 🍊🍊
